WIC ( Women, Infants & Children )
WIC is located in
the Joseph
L. Bruno Family
Resource Center, 2328 Fifth Avenue, Troy. WIC provides healthy food, supplemental infant
formula, nutrition
education and referrals to
income-eligible women who are pregnant, breast feeding, or within six
months of
childbirth. Infants and children up to five years of age are also
eligible to
enroll.
The
WIC program is also a big supporter of breast feeding and has a
Certified Lactation Consultants on staff to help with breast
feeding questions and concerns or just to offer support. The WIC
program also has a Breast Pump Program which includes Hospital grade,
manual and electric pumps when available.
When available WIC
families receive vouchers good at
participating Farmers Markets during the summer. In addition to normal
business
hours, Monday - Friday 7:30
a.m. to 4:15 p.m., WIC offers Thursday evening and 2nd
Saturday
of every month appointments for
convenience. Each WIC office is also a Voter Registration site.
