The Community Action Angel Program provides volunteers the opportunity to give of their time and talents to benefit the programs and services provided by CEO for the greater benefit of the community.  Volunteers work together with CEO to:

VITA Program Needs Volunteers!

VITA is a program that assists low- to moderate-income families with preparing their income tax forms. The average taxpayer pays between $50 and $200 to have a basic tax return prepared by a private firm. The IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides a free alternative. Do you have a few hours a week to help people with their taxes? You do not have to have previous tax experience to help, we need Greeters or we offer training if you are interested in volunteering as a tax preparer. preparation work.

What do VITA volunteers do?

We need volunteers from the end of January through April 15th for the following positions:

Greeter—Greet clients and ensure they have the necessary paperwork for tax preparation.
Tax Preparer—IRS Certified VITA volunteers provide basic tax preparation assistance for low to moderate income taxpayers. The IRS gives free training in tax preparation to volunteers.

As a VITA Volunteer, you:

  • Get free training to add to your resume
  • Gain experience and confidence for future employment
  • Get information to help with your own tax return
  • Help families save money
  • Help bring millions of dollars back to the Capital Region for reinvestment in the local economy
