It's Up to You - NYC National Conference on Volunteer and Service convened by National and Community Service and Points of Light Institute 

The 2010 National Conference on Volunteering and Service was an overwhelming success, with more than 5,000 participants and an incredible group of presenters from the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors.  With the main sponsor being Target they held a massive party called "Party for Good" where there was over 200.000 meals packed for needy families in NYC all while famous celebs spoke and performed. This conference was a great way to be informed, inspired, and motivated. 

 

FOSTER GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEERS ENJOY RECOGNITION LUNCHEON

Tuesday, June 15 2010 — TROY, NY  

Senior Volunteers with the Commission on Economic Opportunity's (CEO) Foster Grandparent Program (l to r) Loretta Ward, Diane Link, and Ann McGuirk have a few laughs together at the recent recognition event held on June 3rd at the Troy Hilton Garden Inn. CEO has overseen this program for the Corporation for National Community Service for the past 37 years.

Nearly 100 Seniors from CEO's Foster Grandparents Program were recognized and thanked for all of their volunteer hours with the children

Thursday, December 3 2009 — Troy, NY  

On Thursday, December 3rd nearly 100 Foster Grandparents enjoyed a noontime lunch that was given in their honor and to thank them for the many hours of volunteer time that they give to help the children on the Capital District.  CEO's Foster Grandparent Program provides more than 40 sites throughout a seven county area with volunteers that help children with special needs. Over 100 Seniors are thanked by CEO for their time, energy and commitment

Friday, January 30 2009 — Troy, NY  

Marge Sweet (l) and Alice Shiland (r), below, enjoy each others company at the Foster Grandparents Luncheon on Thursday, January 22.  Over 100 foster grandparents gathered for a belated holiday luncheon at Franklin Terrace in Troy that had to be rescheduled dut to inclement weather last December.  CEO thanked the seniors for their time, energy and commitment to the programs and the many children they serve throughout the seven county area.
