The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is participating in the ENERGY STAR ® Change a Light, Change the World Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging consumers to switch to ENERGY STAR qualified lighting products such as compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). These transactions are tracked by a pledge, completed by the consumer, stating that the change has been made.
NYSERDA has set a goal of obtaining 10,000 pledges. We are looking for individuals, businesses, community groups, schools and other organizations to become a "pledge driver" to help us in reaching our goal. You and your organization can help New York reach its goal by becoming a pledge driver.
If you have questions on becoming a pledge driver, dial 1-877-NY-SMART or send an e-mail to residential@nyserda.org. Click here to become a pledge driver.

Mary has lived in her home in Eagle Bridge for many years. Her house needed repairs and upgrades to maintain safety. Lacking the means to do the repairs herself, she applied to The Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) for assistance. CEO operates a grant from the NYS Office of Small Cities, administered by Rensselaer County, to assist Rensselaer County residents who meet income eligibility. Most of the repairs done to Mary’s Eagle Bridge home have resulted in a safer and more cost efficient home for her. She is very happy to be able to remain in her home. When asked about how she felt about the HOME program, she remarked, “A lot of people need help and it’s a great program.”
