Division of Education Services
Head Start – provides child development services to
children ages 3-5 years. These services are provided to income eligible
families in Rensselaer County. The program works with each child based
on their social and emotional skills, language skills and physical
skills. Parents are involved in all aspects of the program through
center-based committees and The Head Start Policy Council.

Early Head Start – offers
parents an opportunity for their child to participate in a program
designed especially for the very young, ages 6 week to 3 years. The
children are assessed with the Early Screening Inventory (ESI) at
regular landmarks to monitor each child’s holistic development.

Stepping Stones II Summer
Camp -- We currently have openings in our School-age
Summer
Camp Program for the weeks of July 7th--August 29th. Applications being
accepted for our Connected Kids Scholarship Award. Application Deadline
June 15th.

Pregnant Women Program –
is part of the Early Head Start programming. Services are available
which include pre-natal and childbirth classes, family development and
nurse consultations. This program assists customers with the continuity
of services through their pregnancy up to and including the enrollment
of the child into an infant classroom.
Fatherhood Initiative – is a program developed to
foster an increase in father/male involvement in the Head Start/Early
Head Start program. The program encourages fathers to be more aware of
and involved in their child’s life and education.
Day Care – CEO operates a
day care facility at Stepping Stones II, in North Greenbush that
services 94 children. The center also operates a school age program
during the summer months.
Universal/Targeted Pre-K –
CEO has a collaboration with Troy, Hoosick Valley, Hoosick Falls, and
Lansingburgh school districts to operate pre-k classrooms.
WIC ( Women,
Infants & Children ) – WIC is located in
the Joseph
L. Bruno Family
Resource Center, 2328 Fifth Avenue, Troy. WIC provides healthy food, supplemental infant
formula, nutrition
education and referrals to
income-eligible women who are pregnant, breast feeding, or within six
months of
childbirth. Infants and children up to five years of age are also
eligible to
enroll.

Food Pantry – is a program
that provides emergency assistance to individuals and families that
would otherwise go hungry. The emergency provisions provide wholesome,
nourishing foods to families in need. The food pantry bridges the gap
until a long-term solution can be arranged.
