Youthbuild

For more information about the impact of YouthBuild, watch our video!
Youthbuild is a youth and community development program that addresses core issues facing low-income communities: housing, education, employment, crime prevention, and leadership development. In this program, youth ages 16-24 work toward obtaining their GED or high school diploma, learn job skills, and serve their communities by building affordable housing.

21st Century Program

This after school program – a collaboration between the Troy School District, the YMCA and CEO – offers students at Troy’s Doyle Middle School the academic enrichment and youth development opportunities to increase their academic and social skills and promote greater success in school. The program is literacy-based and designed to help students improve their scores on the NYS English Language Arts Assessment. Participating students divide their time between literacy classes, recreation and life skills development.

Food Pantry

This is a program that provides emergency assistance to individuals and families that would otherwise go hungry. The emergency provisions provide wholesome, nourishing foods to families in need. The food pantry bridges the gap until a long-term solution can be arranged.

Stories of Success and Achievement: Brittney

Watch Brittney tell her story in her own words.

By the time she was 16, Brittney had failed out of high school, and failed at her first attempt to obtain her GED. Then came a pregnancy, and a difficult two years of essentially withdrawing from life. But a good friend convinced her to give YouthBuild a chance. Once enrolled, and surrounded by its supportive and nurturing environment, Brittney excelled. She began to believe in herself and her future. After a successful internship with the Humane Society, she is now enrolled at Hudson Valley Community College and is planning a career in Animal Advocacy.
