Family Advocate (RFRC)
Title: Family Advocate (RFRC)
Location: Rensselaer, NY
Responsibilities: The candidate will act as an advocate for Early Head Start and Head Start families whose children are presently enrolled in the childcare program, and will be responsible for assisting with development of goal plans for participating families, for promoting self-sufficiency and for working with the families to help them succeed in their goals. Candidate must also have the ability to form therapeutic relationships with children and families from diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds and demonstrated skills in communication, as well as ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a multi-service agency.
Qualifications: Associates Degree in Human Services or related field is required along with a valid, clean driver’s license. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in human service field plus prior experience working with families in an advocacy role.
Family Advocate (School District)
Title: Family Advocate / School District
Location: Troy, New York
Classification: Non-exempt / 35 hours per week
Responsibilities: This position has responsibility to act as an advocate for Early Head Start and Head Start families, whose children are presently enrolled in the program within the school district setting. Candidate will be responsible for assisting with development of goal plans for participating families, for promoting self-sufficiency and for working with the families to help them succeed in their goals. Must also have the ability to form therapeutic relationships with children and families from diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds and demonstrated skills in communication, as well as ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a multi-service agency. Position hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:00pm.
Qualifications: Associates Degree in Human Services or related field is required along with a valid, clean driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle, as this position travels between 3 locations.
Infant Teacher (SSII Daycare)
Title: Infant Teacher
Location: North Greenbush, New York (Stepping Stones II)
Responsibilities: To plan and implement a developmentally appropriate full day program for infant children. Uses age appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
Build positive relationships with staff members, families and children through positive and professional communication.
Qualifications: High School Diploma and an Infant/Toddler CDA, and prior experience with Infant and/or Toddler aged children, or AAS in Early Childhood Education and related childcare experience.
Title: School Counselor
Location: Troy, New York
Division: Community Service
Responsibilities: The role of the School Counselor will include but is not limited to: providing support in behavior modification; student and family counseling; character education; and address social and emotional needs. The School Counselor will be available two times per month on Saturdays for student and family activities centered on academics and parent engagement. The School Counselor will meet monthly with each classroom teacher to discuss student and family concerns and successes. Position is responsible for parent outreach and engagement initiatives, including parent involvement programs that recruit individual parents and collective parent engagement programs that support both the school and families as well as conducting programs in the Center.
Qualifications: LMSW or LMHC required; prior counseling experience and clean MVR report also required.
Security Officer (YouthBuild program)
Title: Security Officer (YouthBuild)
Location: Troy, New York
Responsibilities: The Commission on Economic Opportunity, a not for profit organization serving Rensselaer County, is seeking a Security Officer for CEO’s YouthBuild program. YouthBuild provides at risk youth ages 16-24 the opportunity to obtain their GED, learn job skills and serve their community. The Security Officer is responsible to provide a safe student and staff environment. This position will help enforce the expectations of appropriate behavior and rules for students age 16-24 participating in a nontraditional school setting. Position hours are Monday – Friday (6.50 hours per day), 32.5 hours a week.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, prior experience in the security or law enforcement field, experience working with at risk youth, and a clean valid New York State Drivers license required.
Universal Pre-K Teacher (Temporary)
Title: Universal Pre-K Teacher – Temporary
Responsibilities: Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a Temporary Universal Pre-K Teacher to work within a Troy school district site. This position is expected to last 4 weeks, and begin on 3/17/14. Candidate will be responsible to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for preschool children, meeting UPK school district requirements while working collaboratively with the teacher assistant, school district staff, and service providers. This position is 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Qualifications: UPK Teachers must possess a New York State certification in Birth – 2nd Grade, or Pre-K – 6th Grade.
WIC Vendor Program Liaison
Title: WIC Vendor Liaison
Location: Troy, New York
Responsibilities: Liaison would be responsible to visit stores that provide the WIC Food program (vendors) within a 20 county region to perform vendor audits and inspections on a regular basis. Company car is provided, some overnight travel is occasionally required. Liaison would communicate with the New York State Department of Health staff and the Women, Infants, and Children program agencies, within the 20 county region, to ensure successful project implementation. Candidate would occasionally facilitate group trainings to vendors.
Qualifications: An Associate’s degree in business or related field is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft office programs, and must have a clean driver’s license. Bi-Lingual a plus.
