Custodian (Rensselaer)

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking Custodial candidate for our Head Start childcare facility at 1641 Third St., Rensselaer. The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 11:30am – 8:00pm.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility by performing duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, restocking restrooms and classrooms for a childcare center and administrative offices. Building and grounds maintenance would include landscaping as needed and snow removal.
Qualifications: Prior facilities custodial experience, a clean driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. High school diploma or equivalency preferred. The chosen candidates will be required to complete standard background clearances, which include a drug screen, fingerprints, New York State Child Abuse clearances, and a physical and TB Test.

Education and Family Liaison (21st Century FDS)

Responsibilities: Individual will act as a liaison between the agency and local Middle School. Will be responsible to provide a variety of after school support services to students enrolled in the 21st Century Community Learning Center out of the satellite office in the Troy Middle School.
Qualifications: Associate Degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred and valid driver’s license required.

Part time Teacher Assistant Classroom Floater

This position is scheduled to work Monday-Friday from 12pm-2pm.
Responsibilities: Assist staff with classroom activities and general classroom management. Will cover for staff break periods in all age group classrooms(Infant/Toddler/Preschool). Promote children’s development and learning through developmentally appropriate curriculum. Assist in the completion of required classroom paperwork as necessary. Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Toddler Teacher (Stepping Stones II Daycare)

Responsibilities: This is a full time, year round teaching opportunity. Our teachers are responsible to plan and implement age appropriate curriculum and activities, work collaboratively with their co-teacher, center staff, and service providers.
Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a CDA in Infant/Toddlers or a minimum of 9 Early Childhood college level credits and a plan to obtain a CDA and 2 years experience working with young children.
Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood or related field and previous experience working with young children.

UPK Teacher (Substitute) Troy FRC

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a New York State certified teaching candidate to act as a substitute teacher in a Universal Pre-Kindergarten Head Start classroom. This position will begin in September, and be located at our Troy Family Resource Center.

Work schedule would be Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4pm, 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities: Planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate full day program for preschool children.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a New York State certification in Birth thru 2nd Grade, or Pre-K thru 6.

There would not be any benefits available as this is a temporary position.

Teacher Assistant (Stepping Stones II)

Responsibilities: Assist teacher with classroom management, daily routines and implementing educational activities. Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.   Position schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and previous experience working with preschool children required. The ideal candidate will be creative, reliable and have the ability to be flexible with regard to how their day may progress.  Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

 

SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant

Title:  SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant
Location:  All Rensselaer County CEO facility locations
Classification:  Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:  To work on an on-call basis.  Will assist teachers with classroom management in childcare/preschool setting within CEO’s daycare centers.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required.  Must be at least 18 years of age.
