Center Manager – Stepping Stones I

The Early Childhood Education services at the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) are viewed as an investment in our community’s youngest residents. Through our Head Start and Early Head Start program we work with children age 6 weeks to kindergarten, and strive to prepare them for school by offering safe and enjoyable childcare which incorporates learning and social/emotional skill development.  Children enrolled in our program learn the “Kindergarten readiness” skills they need to do well in school.

CEO is seeking a highly committed and energetic individual to provide leadership and oversight of our Head Start/Early Head Start Center in North Troy.  The Center Manager, as a member of a large multi-disciplinary management team, will be responsible for the curriculum, enrollment, parent and school relations, facility maintenance efforts, risk management, licensing compliance of 12 classrooms and the supervision of 38 staff members.

More specifically the candidate will:

Implement and enforce all Division policies, procedures and regulations as they pertain to Head Start Child Outcome Framework and Performance Standards, Day Care licensing and Child and Adult Care Food Program(CACFP) program requirements.  Actively participate in the NYS OCFS Day Care Licensing Renewal Process.

Supervise, direct and evaluate the performance of all assigned staff in compliance with all agency and personnel policies and procedures and OCFS regulations.

Collect, bill and enforce child care tuition and fees following the established policies and utilizing the adopted computer programs.

Ensure the collection, review, accuracy and submission of all required paperwork, and reports to include time sheets, purchase orders, in-kind and enrollment following CEO Policy and Procedures.

Coordinate substitutes, volunteers, student teachers, interns, service providers in classroom following agency and division policies and procedures.

Qualifications:  Min. of 2 years prior teaching experience and 2+ years of management experience in a childcare facility, Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related field required, as well as knowledge of Daycare Licensing regulations and a valid clean driver’s license.

Preferred: In addition to the above; Early Childhood teaching certification and 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership role with management level responsibilities and prior experience in a Head Start program.

 

Custodian (Nassau)

Responsibilities: The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a Fulltime Custodian for our Nassau childcare center. The position is scheduled to work 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-6:00pm and would follow a 10 month school calendar with a summer layoff period. Duties include dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms and classrooms. Building and grounds maintenance would include landscaping as needed, snow removal and lawn care.
Qualifications: Prior custodial experience and clean driver’s license required. High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Custodian (Rensselaer)

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking Custodial candidate for our Head Start childcare facility at 1641 Third St., Rensselaer. The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 11:30am – 8:00pm.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility by performing duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, restocking restrooms and classrooms for a childcare center and administrative offices. Building and grounds maintenance would include landscaping as needed and snow removal.
Qualifications: Prior facilities custodial experience, a clean driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. High school diploma or equivalency preferred. The chosen candidates will be required to complete standard background clearances, which include a drug screen, fingerprints, New York State Child Abuse clearances, and a physical and TB Test.

Floater position (Rensselaer Family Resource Center)

Title:  Floater / Teacher Assistant
Location:  Rensselaer, NY
Classification:  Non-Exempt
Rensselaer Family Resource Center:  Position hours are Monday – Friday, from 11:00am-1:00pm (10 hours per week).

Responsibilities:  Responsible to provide lunch coverage for various classrooms, and assist teachers with classroom management.  Promotes children’s development and learning through developmentally appropriate curriculum. Assist in the completion of required classroom paperwork.  Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
Qualifications:  High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required. Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Human Resource Associate

Title:   Human Resource Associate
Location:   Troy, NY

Responsibilities:   Will be responsible to assist with the day to day Human Resource functions such as, recruitment, on-boarding, employee orientation,  personnel records/file maintenance, database management and filing. Individual will also provide receptionist responsibilities within the building to include greeting guests, FedEx/UPS and supply deliveries. Will also possess the ability to take initiative, anticipate and proactively address needs and issues and handle confidential and sensitive information.

Qualifications:  Qualified candidate will possess an AAS in Human Resources, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail.  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word is required.  Must have prior experience working in an HR setting and a valid driver’s license.

 

 

Preschool Teacher (Stepping Stones I)

TITLE: Teacher (Preschool)

QUALIFICATIONS: An associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education OR
An associate degree in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children OR
A baccalaureate or advanced degree in any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children. Knowledge of daycare licensing requirements preferred. Valid NYS drivers license required.

Toddler Teacher (Stepping Stones II Daycare)

Responsibilities: This is a full time, year round teaching opportunity. Our teachers are responsible to plan and implement age appropriate curriculum and activities, work collaboratively with their co-teacher, center staff, and service providers.
Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a CDA in Infant/Toddlers or a minimum of 9 Early Childhood college level credits and a plan to obtain a CDA and 2 years experience working with young children.
Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood or related field and previous experience working with young children.

UPK Teacher (Substitute) Troy FRC

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a New York State certified teaching candidate to act as a substitute teacher in a Universal Pre-Kindergarten Head Start classroom. This position will begin in September, and be located at our Troy Family Resource Center.

Work schedule would be Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4pm, 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities: Planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate full day program for preschool children.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a New York State certification in Birth thru 2nd Grade, or Pre-K thru 6.

There would not be any benefits available as this is a temporary position.

SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant

Title:  SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant
Location:  All Rensselaer County CEO facility locations
Classification:  Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:  To work on an on-call basis.  Will assist teachers with classroom management in childcare/preschool setting within CEO’s daycare centers.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required.  Must be at least 18 years of age.
