Housing Solutions Advocate – Part time position

Title:  Housing Solutions Advocate (Part time)
Location:  Troy, NY

Responsibilities: This position will work with residents of Rensselaer County who are at risk of homelessness, by providing homelessness prevention services, and assist in stabilizing their housing status and prevent eviction.  These services include screening, assessment, goal planning, determining need for monetary awards, achievement tracking, and intensive case management.  Position will work a total of 18 hours per week.
Qualifications: Minimum: Associates degree in Human Services or related fields; valid drivers license and access to a vehicle. Bachelors degree and previous case management experience preferred.

Infant Teacher (SSII Daycare)

Responsibilities: To plan and implement a developmentally appropriate full day program for infant children. Uses age appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
Build positive relationships with staff members, families and children through positive and professional communication.
Qualifications: High School Diploma and an Infant/Toddler CDA, and prior experience with Infant and/or Toddler aged children, or AAS in Early Childhood Education and related childcare experience.

Security Officer (YouthBuild program)

Responsibilities: The Commission on Economic Opportunity, a not for profit organization serving Rensselaer County, is seeking a Security Officer for CEO’s YouthBuild program. YouthBuild provides at risk youth ages 16-24 the opportunity to obtain their GED, learn job skills and serve their community. The Security Officer is responsible to provide a safe student and staff environment. This position will help enforce the expectations of appropriate behavior and rules for students age 16-24 participating in a nontraditional school setting. Position hours are Monday – Friday (6.50 hours per day), 32.5 hours a week.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, prior experience in the security or law enforcement field, experience working with at risk youth, and a clean valid New York State Drivers license required.

YouthBuild Program Manager (Substitute)

Responsibilities: The Commission on Economic Opportunity, a not for profit organization serving Rensselaer County, is seeking a candidate for a Substitute YouthBuild Program Manager opportunity. YouthBuild provides at risk youth ages 16-24 the opportunity to obtain their GED, learn job skills and serve their community by building affordable housing. This position is expected to begin 4/23/14 and will last approximately 12 weeks. The individual will administer, develop and enhance all aspects of CEO’s YouthBuild program. Candidate will be responsible to oversee program staff, coordinate all program components, maintain community collaborations to achieve program outcomes and ensure the educational, vocational and/or job placement of YouthBuild graduates.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years prior work experience with at risk youth. Program administration and supervisory or leadership experience a must. Relevant experience includes a background in youth development, employment training programs or familiarity with the YouthBuild model.

Custodian

Title:  Custodian
Location:  Troy, New York (various locations)

Responsibilities:  This position is a 35 hour per week position. The ideal candidate for this position should have experience with grounds keeping and general maintenance to include but not limited to painting, basic carpentry and plumbing, and basic troubleshooting ability.  This position will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of agency facilities by performing duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, and restocking restrooms.
Qualifications:  A clean valid New York State Driver’s License and prior custodial experience required.  High school diploma or equivalency preferred.  The chosen candidate will be required to complete standard background clearances, which include a drug screen, fingerprints, New York State Child Abuse clearances, and a physical and TB Test.

Teacher Assistant (SUBSTITUTE at SSII Daycare)

Duties: Will assist teacher with classroom management, and promote children’s development and learning through a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Assists in the completion of required classroom paperwork. Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required. Must be at least 18 years of age.
