Center Manager – Stepping Stones I

Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a Center Manager for a Head Start Center in Troy. Candidate will be responsible for overall operations, enrollment, personnel supervision and to oversee facility maintenance efforts.

More specifically:

-Implement and enforce all Division policies, procedures and regulations as they pertain to Head Start Child Outcome Framework and Performance Standards, Day Care licensing and Child and Adult Care Food Program(CACFP) program requirements. Actively participate in the NYS OCFS Day Care Licensing Renewal Process.

-Supervise, direct and evaluate the performance of all assigned staff in compliance with all agency and personnel policies and procedures and OCFS regulations.

-Collect, bill and enforce child care tuition and fees following the established policies and utilizing the adopted computer programs. Submit tuition collected to the finance office weekly.

-Ensure the collection, review, accuracy and submission of all required paperwork, and reports to include time sheets, purchase orders, in-kind and enrollment following CEO Policy and Procedures.

-Coordinate substitutes, volunteers, student teachers, interns, service providers in classroom following agency and division policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year prior teaching experience and 1 year of management experience in a childcare facility, Bachelors degree in Early Childhood or related field required as well as knowledge of Daycare Licensing regulations and a valid clean drivers license.

Preferred: In addition to the above, Early Childhood teaching certification and experience in a Head Start program.

Custodian (Rensselaer)

Title: Custodian
Locations: Rensselaer
Salary: $10.00 / hour

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking Custodial candidate for our Head Start childcare facility at 1641 Third St., Rensselaer. The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 11:30am – 8:00pm.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility by performing duties including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, restocking restrooms and classrooms for a childcare center and administrative offices. Building and grounds maintenance would include landscaping as needed and snow removal.
Qualifications: Prior facilities custodial experience, a clean driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required. High school diploma or equivalency preferred. The chosen candidates will be required to complete standard background clearances, which include a drug screen, fingerprints, New York State Child Abuse clearances, and a physical and TB Test.

Education and Family Liaison (21st Century FDS)

Title: Education and Family Liaison
Location:  Troy, New York
Division: Youth and Family Services

Responsibilities: Individual will act as a liaison between the agency and local Middle School. Will be responsible to provide a variety of after school support services to students enrolled in the 21st Century Community Learning Center out of the satellite office in the Troy Middle School.
Qualifications: Associate Degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred and valid driver’s license required.

Floater positions

 

Title:  Floaters / Teacher Assistant
Location:  Troy, New York and Rensselaer, NY
Classification:  Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:  We currently have two positions available:

Rensselaer Family Resource Center:  Position hours are Monday – Friday, from 10:00am-2:00pm (20 hours per week).

Troy (JLBFRC):  Position hours are Monday – Friday, from 10:00am – 4:30pm (30 hours per week).

Responsible to provide lunch coverage for various classrooms, and assist teachers with classroom management.  Promotes children’s development and learning through developmentally appropriate curriculum. Assist in the completion of required classroom paperwork.  Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.
Qualifications:  High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required. Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Preschool Teacher (Stepping Stones II Daycare)

Salary: $10.00 – $12.00 / hour

Responsibilities: To promote children’s development and learning through the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect appropriate classroom behavior. Be knowledgeable of OCFS day care regulations as they relate to the classroom. Complete required Educational Documentation. Build positive relationships with staff members, families and children. Create a classroom environment that is welcoming to families and children and respects individual differences and diversity. Create a program that meets the individual needs of each child using required assessment and observation tools. Create a safe, inviting classroom by keeping bulletin boards and classroom displays current monthly, as well as a clean and organized classroom. Attend training as required by CEO and regulating agencies.
Qualifications: Minimum of an AAS in Early Childhood Education, or a Preschool CDA and 2 years experience working with children. Valid driver’s license is also required.

Program Assistant (TEMPORARY) YouthBuild

Title: Program Assistant – YouthBuild Program – TEMPORARY position

Location: Troy, New York Salary: $10.00 / hour

Benefits: No – Temporary position

Classification: Non-exempt

Responsibilities: To provide clerical support for CEO’s YouthBuild program. Responsibilities included but not limited to greeting visitors, screening incoming phone calls/mail, assist with correspondence. This position is scheduled for 32.50 hours per week.

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent with experience working in an office setting. Excellent organizational skills a must. Must have a basic knowledge of Microsoft office programs (Excel, Powerpoint, Word). Pre-Employment Requirement:

 

Toddler Teacher (Stepping Stones II Daycare)

Title: Toddler Teacher / SSII Daycare
Location: North Greenbush, NY
Division: Early Childhood
Salary: $10.00 / hour to $12.00 / hour

Responsibilities: This is a full time, year round teaching opportunity. Our teachers are responsible to plan and implement age appropriate curriculum and activities, work collaboratively with their co-teacher, center staff, and service providers.
Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a CDA in Infant/Toddlers or a minimum of 9 Early Childhood college level credits and a plan to obtain a CDA and 2 years experience working with young children.
Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood or related field and previous experience working with young children.

Toddler Teacher – Hoosick Falls, NY – SUBSTITUTE

Hours are: Monday – Friday 8:30am-3:00pm

Responsibilities: Be knowledgeable of developmentally appropriate practices and all Head Start Performance Standards and Office of Children and Family Services day care regulations and implement those that relate to the position. Promote children’s development and learning through the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Use age appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior. Build positive relationships with families through positive and professional communication, creating a classroom environment that is welcoming, respects individual differences and diversity, and encourage parent participation in the classroom.
Build and maintain collaborative and professional relationships with co-teacher and staff. Collaborate and positively communicate with staff in order to ensure effective communication.
Qualifications:
EARLY HEAD INFANT/TODDLER TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma Plus an Infant/Toddler CDA, and prior experience with Infant and/or Toddler aged children
Or: AAS OR BACHELOR’S in Early Childhood Education and one year teaching experience with infants/toddlers

UPK Teacher (Substitute) Troy FRC

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is seeking a New York State certified teaching candidate to act as a substitute teacher in a Universal Pre-Kindergarten Head Start classroom. This position will begin in September, and be located at our Troy Family Resource Center.

Work schedule would be Mon-Fri, 7:30am-4pm, 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities: Planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate full day program for preschool children.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a New York State certification in Birth thru 2nd Grade, or Pre-K thru 6.

There would not be any benefits available as this is a temporary position.

Teacher Assistant (Stepping Stones II)

Responsibilities: Assist teacher with classroom management, daily routines and implementing educational activities. Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.   Position schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and previous experience working with preschool children required. The ideal candidate will be creative, reliable and have the ability to be flexible with regard to how their day may progress.  Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

 

SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant

Title:  SUBSTITUTE Teacher Assistant
Location:  All Rensselaer County CEO facility locations
Classification:  Non-Exempt
Responsibilities:  To work on an on-call basis.  Will assist teachers with classroom management in childcare/preschool setting within CEO’s daycare centers.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and experience working with young children required.  Must be at least 18 years of age.
